Legislative Speaker You Si-kun (游錫堃) addressed Taiwan's 112th National Day celebration at the Presidential Office on Tuesday morning. You emphasized Taiwan's dedication to freedom, democracy, and sovereignty, which he believes is shared by democracies worldwide. This year's National Day theme is “Democratic Taiwan, Resilient and Sustainable".

During his speech, You also mentioned the Taiwan International Solidarity Act, passed by the U.S. Congress in July, which clarifies that U.N. Resolution 2758 does not relate to Taiwan's U.N. representation, countering China's misinterpretation.

You acknowledged increasing support from countries like the United States, Japan, and South Korea. He attributed this backing to Taiwan's adherence to the values of freedom and democracy. He also said today's democratic achievements result from a century-long struggle.

Concluding his speech, You urged all Taiwanese citizens to embody the spirit of democracy, resilience, and sustainability, and continue defending Taiwan's sovereignty for a peaceful and prosperous future.
