National Day wouldn't be complete without a full orchestra serenading the crowd as they watch a magnificent fireworks show. That's why the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra is hard at work preparing for their big night at Kaohsiung Harbor.
This year, the performance will mainly feature songs by Taiwanese artists. These will fit under four different categories: traditional ballads, Taiwanese classics, pop music, and original works.
Kaohsiung Deputy Mayor Shih Che says that the orchestra's performance covers over 60 years of Taiwanese musical history. Besides classic songs in Taiwanese and popular Mandarin hits, the recital will also feature songs from the Hakka and the indigenous groups of Taiwan.
Golden Melody award winner Lee Che-yi arranged the music for this year's national performance. Altogether, the full selection includes 29 different songs. The hope is that everyone will connect with the melodies.
With spectacular shows for both the eyes and ears, this Sunday's National Day celebration in Kaohsiung is shaping up to be an unforgettable night.
