One of the highlights of Taiwan’s National Day celebrations is an air show from Taiwan’s Air Force. With this year’s National Day coming up, Taiwan’s Air Force has started formation flying practice over the Presidential Office Building.
Early Tuesday morning, CH47 helicopters were the first to start National Day rehearsals. They were followed by IDF fighter jets, Mirage 2000 fighter jets and F16V fighter jets. The Thunder Tiger Aerobatic Team has always been one of the highlights of the air show. The jets fly by trailing red, white and blue smoke – the colors of Taiwan’s national flag.
On National Day, 47 planes of 12 different models will fly in the air show over the Presidential Office Building. But for the rehearsal, the number of planes was cut to just 29. Some fighter jet fans were there hoping to catch photos of the handsome aircraft and wished there were more planes to admire.
President Tsai Ing-wen was worried that the rehearsals might scare people as there have been many Chinese military plane incursions near Taiwan, so she posted a message on her Facebook page giving people a heads up about the National Day flyover.
