With Taiwan’s National Day coming up on October 10, authorities are busily making preparations for the grand ceremonies and celebrations. This year, the attendants responsible for serving the attendant dignitaries will be dressed in uniforms of home-grown design.
These men and women represent the best and brightest Mingchuan University has. Next week, Taiwan is holding its annual National Day ceremony, and these students have passed a rigorous selection and training process to become attendants at the event. They will cater to high-level dignitaries who attend the National Day ceremony.
Organizers invited London-based Taiwanese fashion designer Apu Jan to dress these outstanding attendants-to-be. Apu Jan combined digital prints with red to create a more relaxed, yet vivid look. He says that the design on the women’s uniform represents the passage of time.
General Association on Chinese Culture Deputy Secretary-General Lee Hou-ching says it's not just the clothes that are distinct this year. He says attendants’ shoes have also been specially made as well, with a comfortable yet modern design.
Lee says this year, his association wanted to focus on showing off Taiwan’s design prowess and innovation. He says if he gets his way, Taiwan’s National Day celebrations should become a platform for showcasing the best of Taiwan’s design talent.
